Female Authors

It was a dreary day in Cardiff, as I stared at my partner’s bookshelves.

“Most of your books are written by men.”

We checked the whole collection, and they were. And then I thought about it. Most of my books were also written by men. I have a bigger selection of books by female authors, but still pathetic, considering the number of female writers out there.

So then we visited Waterstones in town, and scanned the science and nature writing. Again, the shelves were male dominated.

Now that I’ve started looking, it’s impossible¬†not to be more conscious of whose hand is behind the pen, so I shall do my best to redress the balance.
